Hill walking taster day (North Wales) - Saturday 14th August, 2021
  • Hill walking taster day (North Wales) - Saturday 14th August, 2021

    Is this you?

Is Snowdon or Scafell Pike on your bucket list?

Not sure whether you are up to it?

Never been up a mountain before?

    Want to improve your fitness?

Want to test out your kit?

Want to have a bit of fun along the way?

Whatever your reason, there is no time like the present!

Join us on this taster event which will ultimately take us to the summits of Moel Famau and Moel Dywyll, nestled in the Clwydian Range.  This event is a bit longer and includes more ascent than the other taster events so this is probably one to do when you have completed some of the others unless you are pretty fit to start with.  All of the effort will be worth it though!

As with all taster events, this route is designed for those who aren't used to being amongst the fells and therefore, the aim of the day is to increase your confidence, fitness and endurance - and have you wanting more!  The terrain will be undulating and, of course, will have several steepish sections - but we will take these on in our own time, taking in the views, refuelling and stopping for pics along the way.  The terrain you will encounter will reflect what you will see in the mountains so extra care will be needed on scree and uneven paths. Sturdy footwear such as worn-in walking boots are essential.

Start time: 9.30am from the car park (free) at the foot of Moel Arthur - 20 mins drive from Mold - if you don't know how to get there, I will be at Rydymwyn Service Station at 9.15am - you can follow me.

    Distance: 7.5 miles

Duration: 5-6 hours depending on group pace

    Maximum group ratio: 6:1

Strenuousness level: Moderate (refer to 'Am I fit enough?' page on website
